We need your help to support journalists’ mental health.
Now, if you’re not a journalist yourself, you may be sat there questioning:
“Why should I care about the mental health of journalists?”
You may know someone who’s been negatively impacted by the media – or maybe have yourself.
But one of the main – if not the – contributing factor to this?
Journalists’ mental wellbeing.
A lack of mental health support for journalists doesn’t just pose a risk to reporters.
It poses a risk to everyone.
Journalists with poor mental health understanding are more at risk of reporting on news in a way which disregards others’ mental wellbeing too.
A journalist with poor mental health understanding or low mental health themselves is more likely to bow down to pressures they face, potentially resulting in them writing more clickbait headlines or chasing stats, over accuracy, due diligence and care.
This doesn’t only cause more stress and mental health damage to journalists…
But also risks inflicting distress and damage onto members of the public too.
